In this Defra
funded study, run-off and ground water from nine individual
hydrologically isolated areas are being closely monitored
to see how different land management techniques, including
buffer strips, ponds and ditches, can control a range of
pollutants such as nitrate, ammonium, phosphorus, and suspended
sediment. For more about North Wyke Research, visit their
website at: http://www.northwyke.bbsrc.ac.uk/
The SampSys sampler
can be linked to either analogue or digital signals to start
sampling routines or to pace sample events. In this instance,
the sampler is being triggered by level devices installed
in weirs that are designed to capture and measure the run-off
and ground water flow.
