AlgSys_Bentho

In December 2000, the European Water Framework Directive (EU-WFD) came into force. This directive stipulates that the ecological status of water masses must be assessed. In order to do so, several biological elements must be considered, including benthic algae. As a result, it has become obligatory to study the development and abundance of benthic communities.
BBE responded to this need by adapting the existing fluoroprobe for use on attached algae. This was achieved by using a fibre optic technique with a remote sensing end.

FEATURES
  • Internal rechargeable battery
  • internal datalogger
  • Three algal classes detected
  • Hand held display unit
  • Submersible fibre optic adaptor
  • Carbon fibre reinforced case
  • Back pack for field use
  • Convertible into standard Fluoroprobe
