BAA decide
to install on-line BOD using eight
Isco-Stip Biox-1010 analysers at
Heathrow Airport based on:
- Six
years experience
at Gatwick airport with also applications at East Midlands, Manchester,
Stansted, Aberdeen and Birmingham airports
- Excellent
operational experience with greater than
98% availability.
Preference was
given to on-line BOD over TOC due to :
- Much higher
flows being analysed (1000 x greater!) leading to a rapid response
and reduced problems with fouling / clogging
- BOD-m3
being a true biological measurement correlates much closer to
BOD-5 than TOC throughout the wide measuring range typical for
surface water run off from runways.
