NEW Products and Upgrades for Algae Analysis in Situ and in Laboratory
Rapid InSitu Measurement of Benthic Algae with the NEW Bentho  Torch

Bentho Torch

The BenthoTorch is the latest of the algal fluorescence spectrophotometers developed by BBE. It measures the attached Benthic algae on stones or bottom deposits and resolves them into Green algae, cyanobacteria and diatoms. Giving measurements in-situ within 15 secs makes it ideal for Water Framework studies that require regular and many measurements. Its on board logging and GPS facilitate data processing and data display
Rapid Measurement of Total & Blue-Green Algae with the Algae  Torch

 Algae Torch

A year on from its introduction to the UK, the Algae torch is now increasing in popularity, due to its ease of use, rapid results and relatively low cost.

Two improvements are now available:

  • Approx. turbidity measurement for compensation is included as standard
  • GPS available as an option, enabling automatic location log of measurements
Fluoroprobe Recommended as instrument of choice for Dutch  Bathing Water Monitoring Programmes

 Fluoroprobe

The well established BBE Fluoroprobe has recently been assessed by the Cyanobacteria working group in the Netherlands to determine its suitability as a rapid bathing water screening method as an alternative to extensive & costly laboratory analysis. As a result it is now recommended that cyanochlorophyl, as measured by the BBE Fluoroprobe, be used as an indicator of potential toxin presence. This enables a rapid monitoring and response protocol to protect bathing water users.

 Lab Analyser Improvements

Lab Analyser

The latest algae lab analyser (ALA) now uses a PC to process the raw data. The PC is included together with software within the price of the unit.

This permits far greater processing power and data display options than the older version.

 Lab Analyser QA Cuvette

Lab Analyser QA Curvette

When purchasing a new ALA it is now possible to have a stable fluorescent dye cuvette, for use as a performance checking device. This fulfils the almost mandatory prerequisite of many laboratories for a recognised QA procedure.
